Avoid costly mistakes as a first-home buyer: don't change your job status or buy a sports car until you've secured your home.

Here are a few things not to do. Once you get your pre-approval and we've secured house and land, no sports bet, no getting new loans, don't have any new kids, Clynt. Don't change your job from PAYG to ABN. I had a client do that midterm because you thought it was going to get more money. You need two years under that ABN to actually get approved again. Don't buy a sports car. Wait, let's get the house first. Keep saving, keep doing what you were doing when we met you and everything's going to be just fine.
